Some people keep lots of plants in their house. They add colour and a sense of comfort but too many plants cause clutter like everything else. Besides taking up valuable space, plants collect more dust than does furniture because they don’t get cleaned as frequently and their growth is often kept unchecked. Limit the number of healthy plants to one or two per area. Give the rest to your friends to plant-sit.
Garage: replace cracked window panes.
Tobacco Smell: paint the ceiling if it has turned yellow. Rent yourself a power paint sprayer to save time.
The master bedroom is a sanctuary for rest and relaxation. Do you have an ironing board next to the treadmill in the corner? Your buyers don’t need to see this. Store them under your bed if you have the room. Otherwise get them out altogether. Return the room to its core function by keeping the furnishing simple: a bed, two night tables, and a dresser.
Pets: one option is to find someone to pet-sit them during a showing. Otherwise, keep them in a kennel and let the buyers know you have pets. Keep your fingers crossed that the buyers won’t mind.
