De-personalize! This is very important. You want your buyers to visualize themselves live in your house, not you living in it. Personal artifacts distract so you have to put them away – photographs, souvenirs, trophies, medals and certificates, posters, religious items, and family heirlooms.
Keep in mind you’re trying to sell your house and will not be living there for long. 1) If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. 2) Plan to spend as little as possible. 3) Check out open houses in your area. Do a slightly better job than your competitors.
Exterior: wipe your patio furniture clean and spread it nicely. It promotes relaxation and carefree living. On the other hand, if there are tears or signs of wear then toss or put away the items.
Mistake #8: Downplaying the importance of cleaning. Buyers are about to spend a lot of money to buy a house. They deserve a clean house. We think they’re right.
