Items you should consider tossing: broken stuff that you’ve never had the time to fix (and you never will).
Windows: replace any damaged locks, torn screens and cracked glass panes. Repair or replace any frames if there is wood rot.
Living Room/Family Room/Great Room: put away game consoles when done playing. No dangling cords for buyers to trip over.
Bathrooms: put away the toilet brush and plunger. Store them under the sink. Ditto for your bathroom scale and extra toilet rolls.
Mistake #6: Expecting the buyers to use their imaginations to see past your clutter. That’s a no-no. When a house is overflowing with everyday stuff it looks small and cramped. Remember, people buy space in real estate and there does not appear to be a lot of space in a cluttered house.
