Pets Problem?

It may not be to your liking but pets distract in many different ways.

  • Pets smell. You may not realize this because you’ve grown accustomed to it.
  • Some buyers are allergic to the saliva, hair, and urine from pets. It’s a health issue and you can’t blame the buyers for walking out the door.
  • Some buyers are afraid of pets. The thought of catching fleas is terrifying for some people. You should never let aggressive pets anywhere near your buyers. Small children can get bitten because they assume all pets are friendly.
  • Pets sometimes get noisy (like barking or meowing) and this distracts the showing.
  • The buyers may feel uncomfortable when a pet rubs, sniffs, or jumps on them. Even when buyers end up liking your pet they may miss out on the wonderful features of your house.

The best option is to find someone to pet-sit them during a showing. Otherwise, keep them in a kennel and let the buyers know you have pets. Keep your fingers crossed that the buyers won’t mind.

Generally speaking, you should toss anything that isn’t worth hauling to your new house.
Roof: Fix any problems right away. The roof is a major source of worry for buyers. If you think this is a major expense, chances are your buyers will think so too.
Windows: clean the glass to a sparkle.
When you have a room that has been morphed into a storage space or a sewing area, or when an older child has moved out and the room literally sits there collecting dust, it’s an opportunity to increase the value of your house by turning the room into a nice living space. A guest bedroom or a home office is in high demand. Establish its core function and furnish it accordingly.
Mistake #5: Focusing too much on expensive remodeling as opposed to making small improvements to help sell your house. You can save thousands by focusing on the little things.
